It’s that time of year again, and one of the most significant dates in the eventing calendar – The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials – is almost here. And, once again, the Wonky Wagon will be hitting the road for the 250-mile drive to Lincolnshire, loaded with 3 Donkeys women’s workwear coveralls, apparel, and accessories, to be a part of this prestigious 4-day event. So what can you expect from the event this year?
Bigger and better than ever
Back for another 4-day extravaganza in the gorgeous grounds of Burghley House in Stamford, the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials are running from Thursday, 1st to Sunday, 4th September. And promoted as ‘the world’s greatest 5* equestrian event’, it promises to be bigger and better than ever.
As part of the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing, Burghley puts on the best horse dressage, cross country and jumping events with the best entrants in the world, competing for a whopping £100,000 – the largest prize pot in Burghley’s history. Not only that, but Burghley openly confirmed that it’s the leading rider’s “ultimate competitive goal”. No pressure then!
After the event’s cancellation in 2020 and a digital-only event in 2021, this year’s competition sees a welcome return to everything Burghley’s famous for, for the first time since 2019! And alongside the world-class eventing, there’s plenty to look forward to, including the Shetland Pony Grand National, premium picnic hampers so you can eat al fresco in style, and even free face painting for the kids.

There are also plenty of food and drink venues, including Food Walk and shopping stands selling everything you can think of. And being a premium equestrian event, you can pick up whatever your stable or yard needs, from tack, saddlery, feed, equipment, and equestrian clothing – including our 3 Donkeys 2-into-1 ladies coveralls!
Yes, we’ll be hanging the flags and banners high, and you can come and visit us on stand 22 on Avenue A. We’ll be open for business every day from 9.00am-5.30pm (5.00pm on Sunday) across the whole weekend, so if you’re attending any of the days, we’d love it if you stopped by to say hello.
